The trial of former South Carolina attorney Richard “Alex” Murdaugh has come to an end with him being sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in the murders of his wife and son.
The last piece of the Murdaugh legal dynasty came tumbling down when Judge Clifton Newman sentenced Murdaugh in the deaths of Maggie and Paul on Friday, March 3. Murdaugh’s conviction in the double murder took six weeks of testimony and only three hours of deliberation for the jury to come up with the guilty verdict. And this was just the beginning of the more than a year-and-a-half-long crime saga that unfolded in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
Greenville News and USA Today brought live coverage and streaming from inside the Colleton County Courthouse from day 1 of the trial. Catch up on everything that happened.
